Paintings and drawings of nature and landscapes. I am also a printmaker, working with linocuts using the reduction technique and I find the diversity and potential of this medium particularly exciting. Much of my inspiration comes from the wildlife and scenery around me, and in France where I lived for several years. I particularly enjoy observing nature that is overlooked or under-appreciated.
Being an artist means being me. It is a way for me to express a fascination with and delight in the natural world, and to stimulate interest in my audience. It means freedom to explore and evolve. Every experience is a potential artwork.
Miranda Whitten-Walker
During my time as a professional biologist, I undertook science illustration commissions and have had work published in numerous books and magazines, including in the BBC and Oxford University Press. I ran 'sci-art' workshops at Swansea University as a volunteer. As I now concentrate solely on making art, I consider myself an 'emerging artist' in the process of establishing her own studio.
I am largely self-taught. I have benefitted from various creative workshops and classes throughout the years, most recently night classes in printmaking at Hereford College of Art.
