Details

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Influenced by nature and the seasons, Inspired by traditional craftmanship and natural materials, finding a unifying visual language of pattern, colour and texture in the natural rhythm of things.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being a creative director and product designer for retail has been my bread and butter for over thirty five years...designing something which fits a brief or tunes in to the needs of others is an enjoyable creative challenge, and one which I feel lucky to have built a career upon...
However, now I return my focus to my first loves of print, pattern and traditional craftsmanship, embracing a slower, more considered pace, in tune with natures shifts and celebrating the characterful, unique beauty of the hand made.

Designer / Print and Pattern Maker / Multi-media Artist.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

Over the years I have held small 'arts & crafts' workshops for young children and for people with physical or mental challenges...though less so now, it's something I'd love to revisit.
