How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I've been making art since I could hold a pencil, and I have been doing watercolour painting since 2015! I also dabble greatly in photography and photo editing. The majority of my artwork is based on the photographs that I've taken over the years, and it very often revolves around the natural world.

I especially love photographing and painting/drawing birds - there is just something so innately wonderful about birds and their charming little habits.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me, being an artist means that I get the opportunity to appreciate the tiny finer details of life every time I pick up a brush - I love seeing the delicate and otherwise unseen aspects that make up everything around us when they are focused in front of your face on the page in stark and irrefutable colours and definition.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I'm a traditional artist specializing in watercolour, graphite and ink artwork based in Herefordshire.
My art business is named Athene Art.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I'm a recent graduate (2023) who studied Classics (Ancient Latin, Greek and History). I've always loved historical art and architecture, and I volunteer at local heritage properties in the county giving tours of various lovely houses!

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I took a GCSE in Art in 2016 which I thoroughly enjoyed since that was when I was first able to use my own wildlife photographs to recreate and add creative touches to some of the amazing sights that I'd seen in nature!

During 2020, I passed the time by delving even deeper into art as a means of escapism and found great comfort in the creative world at that time. That was also the year when I started uploading my artwork online and getting to know the art community there! I've since expanded my portfolio of paintings greatly.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

I will be exhibiting my artwork at Grange Court in May 2024.
