The Clearing

Finds from an ancient woodland

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I love drawing, digital painting, nature monoprinting, writing, book design, book making, photography and poetry. I make art because, with it I try and express the beauty and transience of the natural world since I feel it's under enormous threats and pressures, as never before. We bought a field in 2018 and we are learning to manage it for nature with a wild flower meadow, new woodland and new wetland and this has really opened my eyes to the resilience of nature, but also its fragility.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

It means hard work, lots of practice, excitement, frustration, procrastination (lots), exhilaration (once or twice), but mostly patience and observation .

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
