How would you describe the work you do and why?
For several years now I have concentrated on creating high quality wet felted scarves and bags. I love to incorporate fabrics especially silk in my felting, many of the silks I hand dye but some are upcycled.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
Taking an idea and being absorbed in the creative process to then create something beautiful and desirable can be very rewarding and satisfying! It can also be frustrating when it doesn’t turn out as one imagined!! But the whole process is very mindful and absorbing which I find very therapeutic.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I am a textile artist specialising in creating fine wet felted wearables and accessories.
CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:
I retired from my career 4 years ago and although I have always been interested in textiles I have no formal art training. I have taken many online and in person courses to perfect my felting practice. I am a member of the International Feltmakers Association.
Exhibitions in the last 3 years:
This will be my third year participating in h.Art. The last two years I exhibited at The Lion Ballroom, Leominster. Last year I also participated in Worcester Open Studios. I also take part in an annual exhibition by the local textile group Mostly Felt with 7 other textile artists. This year 4 of us will be exhibiting together for h.Art.
