How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My watercolour paintings are created by studying beautiful and unusual live plants. These include both indoor specimens and outdoor garden plants and shrubs.
To create any painting, requires intense scrutiny of your subject and so you need to focus on something which inspires and motivates your finished work.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist enables me to fully immerse myself in the beauty of creation and to approach an understanding of form and light and shade.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

My name is Jane Taylor and I set up my art company Paperleafprint on Etsy UK (etsy.com/uk/shop/paperleafprint) to sell my botanical prints.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I draw or paint every day, but consider that I am constantly learning and my work is evolving.
I found amazing comfort in my work during the enforced restrictions of the Covid Pandemic.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I am a self-taught watercolourist, previously tutored by Sue Linton, but with no formal Art education.
My first husband trained at the Norwich School of Art in Graphic Design and I do feel that my paintings show some absorption of his style, although he sadly died before being able to impart his technical brilliance.
