Details
Painfully precise.
My art teachers where always going on about loosening up and art being about feeling, well I felt they were wrong. I see a world full of details, a million hands all playing their part in moulding the world we see around us today, I see every brick, every stone and every cracked pain of glass. I paint everything I see, building are a tangible connection to our past and should be revered as the products of our ancestors. I honour their labour with my own.
I allow people see buildings through fresh eyes and they get to fall in love with them all over again.
I'm a maker of visual records, every brick, every pain of glass and carved piece of wood was the product of someone else's hands, their labour, skill and very survival is in the fabric of the greatest building ever made on this earth, we are the guardians of these buildings and the product of their labour.
I've been called many things, but I call myself Vanessa Rhead.
I had formal Art training at Bournville Art school and other midland institutes of higher education.
I have had exhibitions at The Garron Centre, Llangarron. The Court Cupboard, Abergavenny. The Secret Gallery, Newent. Taurus Crafts, Gloucestershire and St Mary's, Ross on Wye.
