Details
How would you describe the work you do and why?
Mocha ware is a sub-category of slipware, where you use a mixture called mocha, which traditionally was made from boiling chewing tobacco and placing on slip to create tree like spindles which cascade down the slip. I also use slip trailing as a form of expressive decoration. For me as an artist, I really enjoy exploring new ideas, new forms and a practical process that collate with the use of slipware.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
Throwing for me is a form of therapy in which I love the regimental process.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I'm a slipware potter predominately using mocha ware, coloured slips and the use of a slip trailer to create unique free form flowers.
