Details

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Each item is individually made in my home using high quality leathers, felts and fabrics. I cherish creating patterns, for these functional items, where I enjoy using leather pieces and partial hides, wherever possible, to minimise waste. These unusual shaped pieces add challenge to the design and add to each unique piece. In this world where we have so many 'throw away items' I strive for my designs to be unique, classic and wearable with longevity.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Crafting is a means of relaxation, expression, exploration, creativity and innovation for me, with my sewing room being a sanctuary.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Designing and handcrafting leather handbags and accessories, with woollen felt and other natural fabrics is a love of mine. ‘Hide and Fleece’ evolved from this love of creating with textiles and leather.
