How would you describe the work you do and why?

Light, light, light is most important, closely followed by colour. I love depicting landscapes, flowers and seascapes with some buildings. If I can give anyone some inspiration as they look at any picture of mine, joy, peace or curiosity to find out more themselves, then I would be happy.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Giving myself time and space, often on my own, to go into the subject, is my main aim. I am usually in too much of a hurry, so painting and drawing slows me down, calms me and helps me to really see what is going on. I often look at something and think, "well I can't do much with that!" but then I am surprised by what comes out. This encourages me to continue.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a hobby artist. I've tried most mediums, and now onto pastels and rather enjoying them.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I'd like to say drawing daily but actually it is drawing weekly and sometimes completing something I love.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

All my family are artists in their own way. My first profession was as a picture restorer for 5-6 years in Cheltenham and London.
