'Poodledoodle'

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My work often revolves around dogs: The shapes they make, their anatomy, their personalities, their relationships, their history and how they feature in art and mythology. The love they bestow on us and our belief in their love for us.
I am fascinated by the invisible line between the subconscious 'doodle' and the conscious act of drawing. I want my work to be free and loose but am always drawn to minute detail. I weave between the two.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being constantly surprised by all of life. . Wanting to create beauty with humour and depth ...a constant struggle!

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a fine artist. I work in a mixture of materials often using found objects. I make sculptures, shrines, I paint, draw, collage, sew and print.

These days I seem to work in phases. Sometimes I think I have stopped then very thankfully find that there is more!
