How would you describe the work you do and why?
I am a sculptor in wood, stone and glass. I particularly enjoy the challenge of working with recycled materials.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
Colour and light in the midst of varied garden foliage. A dappled river. The joy of striving to represent and reflect these forms in different mediums. Absolute self indulgence
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I established 'Arts in the Marches' in 2008 to run arts workshops and promote the work of local artists. Following from my work with other artists, I was encouraged to develop my own artistic skills. My garden was always my first creative love and I now make artworks for the garden, some indoor sculptures, and run glass fusing and stone carving workshops.
Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:
With sculptor Glenn Morris I run a monthly stone carving group, The Llangarron Stone Carvers. In 2024 to mark 10 years we produced a book showcasing everyone's different styles and approaches to carving stone. New members always welcome. Contact me for further details. From my small studio in Llangarron I also run small glass fusing courses on request.
