Whether a celebration, a comment, a therapy or self indulgent play, image making engages my mind and body in a staging of personal mythologies .
The process becomes this private, always revealing Play and the finished picture is to my eyes the Just-vacated stage where chanced props, spotlights, cracked masks, smoke screens, echoes, the whole perplexing array of clues, offer the curious the experience of sensing and reenacting the drama (or farce), by means of their own emotional input. The visual quest, a search for meanings through connections and a compulsion to celebrate our place in the ineffable and sublime...
My medium is mainly acrylic paint, on canvas or board, applied by brush, but I don't think of fhe materials I employ as anything more than vehicles for the making of images, conveying ideas, visions...: I am an image maker.
