How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I design and make mostly Botanical inspired sculpture. I use my many years of Blacksmithing skills and many self developed tools and techniques. I choose this way of life as I like being my own boss. To have the freedom to set my own standard and I get a buzz from making.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist means i keep a sense of playfulness and nonconformity. It gives me a reason to look closely at nature.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Sculptor, or Artist, or Artist Blacksmith. I call myself allsorts of horrible things some days.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

My practice mostly involves me in my workshop messing about with hard metal, trying to turn it into something nice.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Hereford College - Blacksmithing Course 1996 - 97. Worked for a renowned blacksmith in Brecon for a year or so after college. Set up my workshop at Wharton Court in 1998.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

I start the season (most years!) with Malvern spring R.H.S. show and end it with the Malvern autumn show. I attend some local shows and choose some further afield each year. Last year and this year including - Southport Flower Show.
