How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My paintings are atmospheric and often have bold, vigorous brushstrokes. This expressive use of paint and the texture of oils all reflect (sometimes in an abstract way) my inspiration.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I love to be in the outdoors and I also love to paint. I am inspired by the countryside around me, at a distance and also by the sea. Making art for me is a means of expressing my feelings for a place, the weather of that day and the wonder of nature.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a painter of land or sea mainly using oils but also mixed media. My paintings are not of one specific place but capture the spirit of place.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

My artistic practice has been developed through attending several courses with recognised professional artists. Prior to this I was teaching and leading in primary education.
