How would you describe the work you do and why?

My work is inspired by the natural world around me. Through creating texture by impressing tree bark, coral and other natural objects into my clay or by carving, it allows my glazes to respond in different ways to the surface texture I have created. I embellish some my pots with leaves, buds and seedheads which I create from original sources, either through impressions or by making moulds from rubber which I then cast in clay. In order for them to look natural, I sculpt all the stalks and branches by hand, copying what I see before me.
