Trying to make convincing objects in which control, skill and calculation meet luck and spontenaeity. Trying to achieve lightness , elegance and functionality.

For you what does being an artist mean?: 

Freedom and discipline.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching: 

Ex architect , I make things mostly for commmission in my home studio near Painscastle. Winner of Bamber Gascoyne prize for best work of the year from Richmond College London. Tend to work out how to do something and move on. Usually draw before making.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice: 

Practiced architecture for approx 40 years in UK and Czech republic. Jestico and Whiles. London ( director ) Collingwood and Partners Prague (partner), Adams and Collingwood, London ( director).
Qualifications : BA, dip Arch, Dip Bldg Cons, Ing. Arch ; previously registered with RIBA, UK architects registration council and Czech Chamber of architects.
Studied ceramics at school to A level. ( taught by Po Chap Yeap.) Attended adult education courses at Richmond and Wimbledon.
