How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I make baskets to use in every day life, made with locally grown unstripped willow. They are beautiful and functional. I love the fact that they can be created with minimal noise or electricity, and have very little if any negative impact on our earth.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

This is a way for me to express myself in a way that can be seen and the work involved brings me into nature, the outdoors, into the elements, and helps me connect with the earth in a felt way. I love seeing people using my baskets in their lives.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Basket maker, teacher and willow grower

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I run regular workshops in various places around the county and teach individuals in my workshop in Ewyas Harold.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I went to Glasgow to learn to weave on a loom, but have ended up weaving willow after working with various master crafts men and women around England and Ireland.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

I’ve taken some years out to bring up a family and am just returning to be a maker again, so no exhibitions in the last 3 years.

Your gallery outlets/stockists:

I plan to do the odd fair as I get back into this world.
