How would you describe the work you do and why?:

The closest category I fall into would be expressionist and neo expressionist art. I admire the technique and methodology of Francis Bacon and attemptwork in a state of what Jean Dubuffet called "Delirium" i.e. the rejection of logic in favour of emotion.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me art is an examination and expression of the self and of the world I inhabit

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Chris Hellowell - Art

I visit as many galleries as I can. As part of my MAs I read a lot on the philosophy of art e.g. existentialism, absurdism, Art Brut
