How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Humorous and Futuristic.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

It is a great privilege to be able to continue to make my own work and make a living out of it too

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Patrick Boyd is an award winning artist working with time and motion in space. The spectator is presented with many ways of viewing, the eye roams the imagery and is presented with an experience that is futuristic but exudes nostalgia.

His works are an eclectic mix of photography, holography, art, science and most recently, lenticular printing.

His narrative language borrows from the industrial and the bucolic. Combining all with installation, he creates imagery that is both compelling and emotive.

His works of captured sequences blur the boundaries between two & three dimensions. He presents a colourful world where real life, narrative, light & shadow, time and motion collide.

His work is in collections worldwide including: The Butler Museum of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio, The Exploritorium, San Francisco. The MIT Museum, Cambridge, Massachusetts and the ZKM, Karlsruhe. Germany.

It is the nature of lenticular images and also to holograms, that they are very difficult to record in a photograph and experience them as they should be seen, you have to see the actual prints!
