How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I started to work with Silk in 2002 when I saw how vibrant colours can be on silk. Over the years I have worked using many different techniques to create my artwork from Wax Batik to Arashi Shibori to Eco Dye. In the summer I particularly enjoy creating eco dye silks as it encompasses natural pigments from leaves and petals such as eucalyptus, geranium, onion skin and various dye releasing roots. My inspiration is from nature and my artwork unites my love of textiles, light, vibration and colour.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

As I grow many of the plants I use for certain aspects of my silk art....for me, being an artist blends my creative drive and joy of working with nature.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
