Art & printmaking studio with a gallery room. Original prints & landscape paintings. Workshop bookings.
Helen's studio and home gallery in Longtown, near the Welsh border, is open year round for tuition & viewings of her paintings & original etchings. The venue is located in the stunning Olchon Valley, on the border with South Wales. You can combine your visit with sight-seeing at the Norman Castle, or you might like to take an invigorating walk up the Cat's Back & along Offa's Dyke path.
When a landscape becomes meaningful to you, it gets under your skin to create vivid memories. Helen's paintings & prints capture that. There’s a kind of wild light on the edge of the Brecon Beacons – you see *all* the weather & the seasons feel extreme. This tends to work on creativity in an inescapable way. Helen is drawn to painting richly coloured mountain views of the Beacons. In contrast, she photographs, draws & etches the intimacy of enclosed woodlands and hedgerows. In her dual practice, she searches out big vistas beyond as well as narrow spaces between.
Helen is an art tutor, running monthly group sessions or private groups & working with the Sidney Nolan Trust. No experience of drawing or printmaking required. You'll be supported to make your own strong images, whatever your ability.
In 2022, she won Arts Council funding for the Herefordshire arts exhibition, Mappa Marches.
