How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My work is an abundance of colour, shape and movement. I'm interested in how a sense of movement, response and passion can be expressed through painting, and I know it can be a source of wellbeing for those that feel its energy.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

When I'm painting, I'm in a state of heightened sensitivity and emotional connection to the work I'm creating.

My hope is that people will come to my art with a sense of joy and happiness, and find something unique in every painting that resonates with them.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I'm a contemporary painter with a interest and fascination with colour and form. I'm drawn to painting contemporary seascapes because they allow me to capture the raw emotion of the sea and sky and translate it into a visual play of abstract shapes and vibrant colours.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

My practice currently begins with photos and videos in the sea and harnessing that connection with the elements through quick sketches and colour studies.

I'm passionate about working with my medium of acrylic paint, finding new ways to recreate what I initially felt.

Working on canvas with acrylic paint and drawing from my sketches, I combine geometry and colour to create bold works of art. For me, it's all about experimenting with colour palettes, layering colour, transparencies and opacities and varying ways of applying paint to create something new and unexpected.

I continue to expand my creative practice, creating dynamic and vibrant artwork that engages the viewer with each new piece revealing something more about me too!

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

My background is Architecture and commercial interior design which has been my creative outlet for almost 20 years. More recently I have turned to painting as a more emotional creative outlet. My design background helps with the composition, understanding of colour and how and why it works. I would say my work has an elegant architectural touch to them.
