SILVIA PASTORE OPEN STUDIO
Studio exhibition of Watercolours and Pastels. The artwork comprises narrative and imaginary paintings as well as landscapes exploring the local rural views and still-lives. My work is figurative. The paintings of imagination are inspired by thoughts and opinions that are relevant to me. For instance the concept that started the sequence of paintings showing people wearing costumes and masks has been inspired by the notion of the fleeting fragility in the variety of roles we play in our lives.
I love to paint the landscapes near my home. I establish a deeper connection with the views that I can observe in different lights and moods, weather conditions and change of seasons. I like to paint in the open air whenever I can as this allows me to achieve a more meaningful and personal response to the subject. It is also greatly enjoyable to draw and paint still- lives. This practice offers the opportunity of setting up a variety of arrangements with loved and well known objects without the constraints of time and light in the warmth and quietness of my studio.
