How do you describe your Gallery?:
Together with our artists' studios our gallery exhibits works by local artists throughout the year and participates in local celebrations and events to help promote the cultural life of the city and county. The gallery is also a base for Framework Herefordshire, a support network for young and emerging artists which encourages peer support and exhibition opportunities to develop personal practice and curatorial skills.
Do you specialise in any particular artform or craft?:
We specialise in many artforms including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and much more. We also offer poetry and music events and promote collaborative working by artists across a range of genre.
What's important to you when you choose whose work to exhibit and sell?:
We like to encourage artists who wish to exhibit their work to develop their craft and understanding of how their work is received by a public audience. While sales of work are promoted we feel work should be made available for visitors to appreciate and enjoy even if not for sale.
What's coming up this year?:
We are participating in May Fair 900, a countywide celebration of the 900th anniversary of the granting of the charter, which will run from 14th April to 5th August. Local artists Doug Eaton, Stella Hidden, Michelle Harris and Richard Corbett will be exhibiting later in the year. June will see a short reprise of Into the Meadows, a collaboration of artists and poets to help promote the work of Herefordshire Wildlife Trust. This, hopefully, will coincide with the opening of the Birches Farm Visitor Centre. Our annual Christmas Delights will bring the year to a close with seasonal offerings. Our h.Art exhibition will run from 18th August to 18th September 2021 and will feature our studio artists.
