How would you describe the work you do and why?
I paint to tell a story, painting landscapes, animals, flowers. I try to capture the 'Chi', the spirit or internal energy, of the subject. I write about Chinese culture and literature, both factual and fiction. I illustrate my own books.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
I love to create something beautiful.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I am a traditional Chinese painter, and a writer.
Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:
Painting, exhibiting, selling, teaching.
CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:
I have been painting for more than 30 years, mostly self taught after initial teaching from Chinese masters.
I write from my soul.
Exhibitions in the last 3 years:
The Makers' Gallery, Craft Renaissance, Usk - continuous exhibition.
Many other arts and craft events, including Oriel Gallery, Crickhowell Open Studios.
