How would you describe the work you do and why?
I find it hard to describe my work, I work with the natural seasons and my work changes throughout the year,. I love the strong colours of summer and like to bring in flowers and wildlife into my work. Alternatively I also like the rich textures and colour of nature when it's angry, I often see storms at sea in my work but I guess it allows people to see their own personal storm or calm seas.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
It's where I feel at home. Art is something that is intrinsic to all of us, to some it calls stronger than to others. Being able to express myself through my art is my purpose. It's the way I can share and have an impact with people on a daily basis through the impact my work has on them.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I'm a self taught potter who has learnt through trial an error. I ignore lots of the conventional rules and spend a lot of time playing and seeing what clay, glazes and my skills can do.
CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:
I'm a self taught potter. After an evening class that I didn't get to complete in 2019 due to the world being paused, I continued to learn everything I could about ceramics from trial and error.
