How would you describe the work you do and why?

I use recycled precious metals, silver and gold and gemstones to create one of a kind pieces of jewellery. I also use traditional silversmithing techniques to create textures and unique shapes in my pieces of jewellery. I take inspiration from nature, especially the shapes on the smooth rocks and pebbles worn by the sea or rivers and the patterns left behind in the sand on the beaches that we visit in Pembrokeshire. I love to see the lichen and skeleton leaves from the trees around my home and the interesting shapes that they can imprint into the silver. I love to work with my customers to hear their stories and make pieces that tell their unique stories in jewellery. I can personalise pieces with some names, dates, birthstones or special meanings.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being able to use my creativity to make metal into something beautiful and meaningful is one of the things that I love most, I find great pleasure in chatting to customers and explaining my processes to them, seeing people connecting with a piece of my jewellery is the most exciting feeling, it's almost as if that piece has spoken to them and it is going to it's rightful home. Seeing my jewellery being worn, 'out in the wild' is an amazing feeling too.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I'm an artisan jeweller specialising in bespoke, personalised, one of a kind jewellery, all handmade with love for you in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I trained initially at Hereford College of Arts, doing a 6 week evening course, I got hooked on making and then was mostly self taught, as I worked full time then as well. I completed a Diploma in Silver Jewellery with Jewellers Academy, last year which has increased my skills immensely.

Your gallery outlets/stockists:

I'm part of The Corner Collective in Builth Wells, I have stock in Ardent Gallery, Brecon, Samalanah Collection in Brecon and the Cric Gallery in Crickhowell as well as my website.
