How would you describe the work you do and why?

My subject matter and inspiration are often rooted in the natural world. Flora and fauna have long served as enduring muses throughout art history, and my work frequently explores this. I am drawn to the process of linocut image-making and fascinated by the possibilities of close observation. I enjoy using mark-making to capture the subtle intricacies and character of my subjects. Each element of a composition is a thoughtful process.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me, the linocut process encourages patience, close observation, and a deep engagement with my subject. Also - this method of producing images allows me to create original handprinted artwork at affordable prices. I firmly believe that art and owning artwork should be accessible for all.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am an artist and illustrator based in Worcester, focusing on linocut printmaking.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I trade at various markets across the local area.

I am a regular trader at The Fold’s Artisan Markets (in Bransford, WR6 5JB) - which fall on the first Sunday of the month. My market stall displays are bright, colourful and have a record shop feel - encouraging visitors to flick through my print boxes to find a design that resonates.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I undertook my formal art training at Aberystwyth University, completing a BA and then a MA in Fine Art. Animals and their role in the environment provided focus for my output. After graduating, my interest in environmental issues led me to pursue a career in the energy and carbon management sector. In recent years I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to return to my artistic roots and dedicate more time to expanding my body of work.
