How would you describe the work you do and why?

I paint in Watercolour and Pastel, depicting figurative portraits, landscapes and still life.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Working as a full time professional artist and art tutor brings the best of both worlds for me. I can explore my creativity whilst also sharing my knowledge and experience to teach others, helping them achieve a level of artistic skill that they may not have realised previously.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Artist and Art Tutor

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I teach weekly adult watercolour classes from my home studio and hold regular beginners watercolour workshops several times a year. This year I will also be tutoring two art retreats in France in June and October. I also demonstrate at Art Societies and run an annual creative workshop at Edgbaston High School for Girls. On days I'm not teaching I paint for exhibitions, galleries and sell at art markets.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I attended the Victoria Institute in Worcester and Southampton Institute where I studied Graphic Design before a career in the graphics industry. After a 23year hiatus from art, raising six children, I came to watercolour quite late in life when I started attending regular classes in 2015. Four years later I was invited to teach at the venue I'd been attending and from there, set up independently in late 2019. I now tutor approximately 30 students weekly.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

Broadway Arts Festival 2020 - 2025 Creative Arts Showcase 2023, 2024 Number 8, Pershore 2024, 2025
