How would you describe the work you do and why?

I have been teaching traditional rag rug making techniques for many years. I believe in sourcing locally and treading lightly on the planet.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I enjoy working with colour and exploring vintage upcycling techniques bringing rag rug making into the twenty-first century. I honour the generations of ordinary people who made rugs out of necessity.

I love helping people to explore their creativity through such an accessible medium and have offered courses at many venues.

1971 Hammersmith College of Art & Building: London Certificate in Art & Design and Licentiate of Society of Industrial Artists and Designers. Member of: International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers; TAFA List; Friend of Heritage Crafts Association; www.lowimpact.org; Creative Breaks Association.
