How would you describe the work you do and why?

My work combines traditional sculptural craftsmanship with contemporary social themes. Through figurative forms and carefully chosen materials, I explore ideas of human vulnerability, moral responsibility, and the tension between compassion and indifference in modern society. I am interested in creating work that encourages reflection rather than providing fixed answers.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

For me, being an artist is about observation, honesty, and questioning. It is a way of exploring human experience and communicating ideas that are often difficult to express through words alone. Sculpture allows me to combine material, form, and emotion to create spaces for reflection and dialogue.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Contemporary sculptor working across figurative and conceptual practice, exploring themes of morality, societal indifference, and material truth.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

My practice centres on contemporary sculpture, combining traditional hand-carving techniques with conceptual and socially reflective themes. Alongside studio practice, I have an ongoing interest in the relationship between art, science, materials, and display, including experimentation with historical photographic processes and installation methods.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Originally trained and employed within automotive design engineering, I later completed a BA (Hons) Fine Art specialising in Sculpture at Birmingham City University School of Art. My background in engineering continues to influence my approach to structure, material, precision, and problem-solving within contemporary sculptural practice.
