How would you describe the work you do and why?

I grew up on the rural Herefordshire borders, spending my childhood exploring the countryside around me and always with a faithful dog by my side, we spent lots of time in the green fields and meadows, with hedgerow homes to wildlife, to me this is the most beautiful thing and is where my inspiration is from. My art can be quite detailed and delicate, I especially enjoy drawing the structure of the flowers. At home in the garden I have chickens and ducks who I often love to paint, they have so much character.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Art is best when coming from the heart, the feeling you get for the subject you are painting and to transfer that feeling across, when someone looks at your work, for them to get a sense of that feeling. I don’t follow any rules and always use my artistic license.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

A watercolour artist and illustrator. Mostly working in watercolour, I sometimes draw with a black fine line pen. Occasionally I use white gouache for detail, this works well with the watercolour paint.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I practice my art gently over the seasons as inspiration comes and in preparation for markets that I attend throughout the year. I have dabbled in holding art therapy sessions amongst friends, this is possibly something I’d like to take further one day.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I’m a self taught artist, over the past years I have attended workshops. When at school I studied GCSE graphic design and then A level Art and design.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

Actually quite a shy artist, however, two years ago I did take part in the Forest of Dean Open Art Trail.
I do exhibit at Art markets around the three counties and the Cotswolds. There, my art work is on show and available to buy.
