How would you describe the work you do and why?
Recently I have been experimenting with fabric collage, making images of birds, butterfles and flowers seen in our garden and the surrounding fields where we live in Hoarwithy. I use saved scraps of cotton and recycled woollen blankets, felt and linen and then loosely draw the subject using free machine sewing.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
It means being able to create things I enjoy and hope others will appreciate them too.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I have sewn for as long as I can remember, sometimes out of necessity but mostly for the sheer enjoyment of it. Working and experimenting with textiles gives me pleasure and a chance for pure self indulgence!
Exhibitions in the last 3 years:
I exhibited at hArt last year for the first time and enjoyed the experience enormously.
