Details
How would you describe the work you do and why?
My work uses slips, sgraffito and altering whilst throwing to create layers and movement. It is an engagement with the nature around me and capturing a moment in time, in a way that only ceramics can. Shifting from bold patterns based on organic forms like cells, or sea creatures, that become abstracted, to figurative wall pieces that seem in conversation with the observer.
For you what does being an artist mean?:
A constant journey of experimentation and exploration, suprising myself and having the patience and curiosity to see where new directions will take me.
Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:
I am a ceramic artist working in terracotta and stoneware, making functional ware and sculpture. My practice circles around the fragility of nature and my concern for the destruction of wild places.
