How would you describe the work you do and why?

My early work has been semi-abstract, almost entirely in acrylics with work currently illustrated in an art-interest section on my web-site. I have been entirely self-taught and this early work has been infrequently produced as and when I found the time. More recently, I have been attending lessons providing me with additional technical skills and have branched out into water colours and other mediums. I like to try and provide an other-worldy or surrealistic flavour to traditional subject matter.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Trying to express a kind of beauty using colour and form without using words or language.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am a consultant electrical engineer by profession, with an interest in art.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I have a spare bedroom which serves as a studio.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I have a first degree in maths and physics and a PhD in electrical engineering. In the past couple of years I have been a member of the Herefordshire Village Art Clubs where I have been improving my skills. Before then I was entirely self-taught in art.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

I have had a few paintings shown in Bromyard Art Week last year and in the Village Art Club displays in the Leominster Old Stable Gallery.
