Artists Exhibiting at JENNY PEARCE/SARAH WALKER

Jenny Pearce - Originally from Dublin and now living in rural Herefordshire, Jenny has been a basketmaker for nearly 30 years, learning her craft mostly in the West of Ireland but also from expert basketmakers in England and France. She started out in Textiles, spending a year at the London College of Furniture on a Constructed Textiles course which gave her a passion for making and eventually led her in the direction of willow weaving. Working mostly with unstripped willow, with its variety of texture and colour, Jenny likes to borrow from traditional Celtic and English Regional styles to develop more contemporary designs. Texture is very important in her work.
Sarah Walker ArtShades is a paper lampshade designer maker from the Malvern Hills. She is best known for her immensely practical half-shades for table lamps and wall lights. All her reverse appliqued designs are stitched on her sewing machine and cut by hand, with wonderful surface textures which are further enhanced when illuminated. Her latest passion is hand-printing and her new collections feature original linocut designs - winter trees, Cornish cottages and Devon beach huts. Both collections can be custom-made in colours and designs to suit. Sarah also makes shades from reclaimed vintage OS maps, those with lovely soft period colours. These can also be made to order featuring a significant place.
