Creatures and Cloth

Description:

Bringing together the magic and mystery of Lucy Baxendale's mixed media creations with the vibrant colour and sumptuous texture of Helen Foot's handwoven textiles. Creatures will come to reside within this textiles studio for the duration of h.Art week, nestling themselves within cloth, guarding the loom and peering off into the distant landscape of Bircher and beyond.

Lucy works predominately in clay to conjure up creatures from a parallel world, inspired by mythology & grounded by the very material she chooses to bring them to life. From sculptures to planted pots, you will be able to view the full range of Lucy's creations, perhaps you will even give a monster a home.

Helen's playful style has been described as 'Rebellious Nostalgia'. With a strong sense of colour and a passion for keeping traditional skills alive, Helen creates fabrics in harmony with the loom. Handwoven scarves and other pieces will be available to purchase. You will also have an opportunity to try your own hand at weaving.

Workshops will be available with both Lucy and Helen throughout the week, please contact studio@helenfoot.co.uk for more details.
