The Corras Artists group emerged from Twyn-y-Corras, with the energy and support of Clare Gray.
Inspiring work, created by three contemporary artists:
Andrew Pearson: Woodcarving - 'My woodcarving is inspired by the anonymous carvers of the 12th to 17th centuries; I use tools and techniques that are unchanged since Medieval times, then add my own blend of satire, irony, pastiche, opinion and personalisation to suit my needs. Hopefully, bringing contemporary themes and players into the atmospheric mix keeps the tradition fresh.'
Catherine Murray: Photography - 'Through exploration of the landscape, I strive to capture moments that provoke an emotional response; seeking out locations to create images of inspiring places, typically capturing the presence of nature and the sculptural quality of our environment in strongly defined landforms, changing weather and ambient light. '
Lisa Saunders: Paintings - As a painter I identify with the expressionism in art. It excites me when I come across a new colour that has no name and to go beyond my limitations to find genuine expression with enough flexibility to explore those elements that motivate me. The experience of working with a painting as it unfolds brings me home to who I am.
NB: Photography exhibition access is via a wide staircase with handrails to each side; woodcarving and painting exhibitions are on the ground floor.
