Brontë Woodruff

A painter on the North West Herefordshire borders, over the past 17 years Brontё has exhibited widely throughout the region, also organising charity shows. In July she is Artist in Residence at Dore Abbey during English Choral Experience's festival of English choral music with Paul Spicer. In September she runs her 15th consecutive open studio for h.Art; she is an active member of the h-Art Advisory Group. In November 2018, she curates a group show at The Colloquy, raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice.

She enjoys sharing her art practices in lively workshops and demonstrations. Her paintings and drawings hang in many homes around the world.
Recent abstracts include the Sari Series, based on adventures in rural India.

A rural painter, working in the dramatic Marches landscape, my work is varied. I prefer natural materials, a rag, stick and wide flat brush are liberating tools. I enjoy collage as a medium, recycling where possible, and now embrace the versatility of acrylic paint. My paintings, mostly land, animals and abstracts, concern atmosphere and energy rather than reality. I familiarise hand and eye with shape and essence of a subject, then work with colour towards a freer translation.
