How would you describe the work you do and why?: 

'I like to work from a life model and try to capture emotion in my pieces. I am also interested in exploring abstraction from the human form.'

For you what does being an artist mean?: 

'I gain huge enjoyment from immersing myself in a sculpt and have found great satisfaction in helping others to do the same.'

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?: 

Val Adamson is a sculptor and tutor who specialises in figurative sculpture using traditional methods. Having lectured for many Arts bodies, she now teaches from her Studio in Chalford and for the Arts University Bournemouth.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching: 

From my Studio I run figurative classes working from life models using traditional techniques and Sculpture Development Classes where students can explore their own ideas through sculpture. I am also a regular tutor at the Arts University Bournemouth where I support students sculpting figurative work.
