A part of me

New Life

Redemption

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

My work is often sculptural and made up of multiple pieces that connect together by theme or material.

I am quite a deep thinker which can sometimes be both an advantage and disadvantage to my mental state and these thoughts can lead me on a journey. I often use crafting as a cathartic exercise where my mind can also rest while making.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being an artist is one part of my identity and I can be my most true self when I make and create.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

I am predominantly a ceramicist but can't help but enjoy bringing other materials into my practice, from steel to plaster to lint from the tumble dryer. I am process driven in my work and concepts come to me while I make.

I enjoy playing and experimenting where wonderful happy accidents can occur.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I am currently a full time art student where I am gaining a BA Hons degree. This means my time is limited to working on the modules given to me so my activities are fully concentrated on the course at the moment.
