How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I am a specialist antique conservator and restorer of metalwork that uses traditional heritage crafts techniques. I like to work with a variety of metals and traditional techniques such as chasing and repoussé, patination, oil gilding, lost wax casting, hand engraving, raising vessels and forms. I describe my practice as a form of copper alloy fabrication that has no limits.
I originate from the Forest of Dean, and am currently based at the foothills of the Black Mountains, Herefordshire. I have always been inspired by this ancient land of England and Wales with its truly dynamic landscape, which has enthralled my love and inspiration for both macro and micro textures that I incorporate into my creative practice.
My recent artistic creations have been bespoke copper signs for shop fronts, functional objects and unique house signs.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

Being An artist defines me as a person. From my education to my creative passions i have only ever been routed in the creative artistic industries, whether it is restoring antiques art and collectables, constructing contemporary art for other artists or creativng my own functional artistic forms. Art is my form of communication it is a way of expressing myself. i love watching the metal take its shape as no two objects are the same. No two projects are the same, its my way expressing and communication with the world.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Im a specialist metalsmith in conservation and restoration of metalwork. i incorporate traditional coppersmithing tecchniques into my contemporary practice as a metalsmith. Since the lockdown i have decided to go back to my artistic roots working predominantly in copper alloys and precious metals i create functional and scuptural forms froms as well as creative sign making.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I moved into my new workshop at the end of December 2021 in Herefordshire. i moved from the Forest of Dean where i was a part of FaR Open arts trail community i was practising under the same of S.Harris Metalwork & Restoration. Over the last two years i have had the chance to start again as an artist. by creating a new website moving workshop and home several times. i feel as though this time has given me the chance to reinvent my practise and refocus what i want to achieve as a creative.
