How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I design and create lampshades from plant-fibre paper and reclaimed maps. I incorporate linocut printing and appliqué into my designs, so no two are the same. I love to make functional art so each lamp is an artwork that adds to the ambience of a room. I ensure that each is as interesting when switched off as it is when illuminated. Wall lights and half-shade table lamps are my speciality, but I also make drum shades for table lamps, ceiling pendants and floor lamps.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I love the freedom to create, experiment and express myself, with the added joy of making a product from scratch. I'm currently having fun combining mediums, bringing together my handprinted linocuts and my signature technique of paper reverse appliqué in one design. I'm also delving into surface pattern design.
