How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I create mosaic art work, decorations and jewellery from a variety of media, consisting mostly of ceramics, tiles and glass. I prefer to upcycle and recycle rather than buy materials brand new and a lot of my supplies are sourced from charity shops or unwanted or damaged china or old jewellery which has been given to me. I relish the opportunity to turn these items into something beautiful as well as giving them a second lease of life.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

My art gives me the freedom to express myself and my ideas and share my creativity with others.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Mosaic artist

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

I have been creating mosaics on and off for the past 10 years. In that time, I have also demonstrated my work, given talks about my process and lead work shops for local craft groups, W.I. groups and a group of secondary pupils.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I enjoyed Art at GCSE but did not take the subject any further. I have no formal training in mosaics. I have attended a couple of courses but I am mostly self-taught through books, online videos and advice and being an active member of a number of mosaic forums.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

I exhibited at Grange Court during h.Art events last year, both in September and November.
