Landscape and Still Life artist working in primarily in watercolours.
My principal painting medium is mixed media, working primarily in watercolour, pen and ink. Working in situ initially from direct observation and drawings then overlaying with photographs to complete the piece, particularly for colour-referencing.
My work is largely inspired by landscape, particularly the Upper Clun Valley, the Upper Teme Valley and the rural backdrop of the Radnorshire Hills which are close to my home.
My aim is to capture a feeling of history, shrouded by the peacefulness of the local landscape.
I concentrate on capturing natural light and the way this can be displayed in my paintings as they interact with the landscape, alongside the unexpected perspective and sense of space, igniting my imagination.
I am a Full-time artist with qualified teaching experience. I have taught in both individuals and groups in colleges and Adult Education.
Trained at Wigan College of Art and more recently Sheffield Hallam University gaining both a 2:1 (BA Hons) in Multimedia & Design and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.
My work is held in private collections nationally and also in Germany, Sweden and the USA.
