How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I design and make all the quilts myself in my countryside studio. The name of my business comes from being a keen bee keeper in the past.
I am often inspired by patterns and colours in nature and a design idea will be sparked. I have a flair for combining colours, which is important for creating visual impact. Selecting the colour palette of fabrics is one of my favourite parts of the process. I also like to try new techniques and incorporate those into the quilts.
All my products are made from high quality cotton, ensuring that they last for many years. Quilts have many uses around the home, from a bed cover, to lap quilt, sofa throw or wall hanging as well as a cot cover or play mat for a child and they make great gifts for many occasions.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I have always loved sewing, and to combine my skills into making bespoke quilts is a great pleasure. Quilting is a heritage craft which I believe still has a place in our lives today. The process of designing and creating an item which will be used and treasured for many years is in itself rewarding.
Being part of the local crafting community and networking with other artists is also an integral part of my artistic life.
I enjoy passing on quilting skills to others, by running teaching workshops across Herefordshire.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

Bee-spoke Quilts produces unique handmade quilts.
I am a quilt maker based in rural Herefordshire and my passions for colour and sewing are combined in the creation of beautiful patchwork quilts for the home. The inspiration for many of my designs comes from the countryside and creatures which surround me. The use of vibrant colours and bold designs give the quilts a contemporary twist.
My customer base is worldwide and I have shipped quilts to USA and Australia as well as selling locally.
Quilts are available in a range of sizes, from cot size up to double bed.
Commissions are welcome for a truly personal quilt.
