I have always felt that creativity is a very important part of my life. To capture the beauty or the sadness of the world are equally important to me.
I feel extremely fortunate to live where I do, on the Welsh borders, where I am able to encompass the wonderful landscape we still have here.
Painting portraits are as important to me; to try to capture a person's inner being means so much more more than portraying their outer image.
As a painter of Still Life I try to look at images in a different way; angles and shadows are very interesting.
I try very hard to paint what I see and not what I know.
Apart from the beauty in art, and the fact that artists throughout the centuries have attempted to reproduce the time in which they live (does art represent life etc) I feel that art, in all its forms; whether painting, writing, dancing, acting or music, enables us all to explore the beauty in our life, without which we would be the poorer.
