How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I am fascinated by the rough, elemental nature of the metals that I work with and aim to reflect that essence in my work. All items are one off's and imperfections in the metal are part of the design. All the jewellery is carefully crafted and finished to create beautifully wearable everyday pieces.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

I love the fact that all of the silver and gold that we can access on earth was created in outer space, inside massive stars when they exploded into supernovas. It then travelled to the earth in asteroids billions of years ago and remains distributed on or near the Earth's surface.
Over 99% of the gold on our planet is inaccessible to us as it is in the Earth's core where it sank during the initial formation of the planet. I find it incredible that I can own tiny parts of this limited resource and turn it into items which can be worn and gifted and loved.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

My name is Emma and I work with silver, gold, bronze and copper. I mostly make jewellery but I also enjoy using metal to make small sculptural forms.

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

My practice is to continue to practice.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

I can not offer you a long artistic CV as I spent most of my life in the corporate world. All I can tell you is that it is joy to have have discovered the practice of making and I consider it a privilege to be able to do so. It is an added bonus when other people like my work and are happy to pay for it.

Exhibitions in the last 3 years:

This will be my first ever exhibition

Your gallery outlets/stockists:

I just sell face to face.
