How would you describe the work you do and why?:

After spending over thirty years in education, I traded life as a headteacher to fulfil a lifelong ambition to paint, full-time for a living.
I currently live in Nelson, near Caerphilly and also work from my cottage studio in Mumbles. Feeling fortunate to combine life in the Welsh Valleys with time spent on the coast for much of the year, I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the beautiful coastline and mountains of my surroundings.
My work often depicts the power and vitality of the ocean and the beautiful scenery and heritage of Wales. I love watching the sea whipped into a wind blown frenzy and listen to the waves crash in a ferocity of noise and power. I strive to paint that noise, to communicate the drama of the terrifying and unstoppable power of sweeping, grabbing water as it cascades inland with pounding fury.
Using mainly oil or acrylic paint, my expressive style is created with the generous application of paint using a palette knife, often finished with more detailed brushwork application. Textural contrast creates atmosphere and mood, as well as the impression of movement in many of the paintings.
